Thomas Lentini
(b. 1991, Melbourne. Lives and works in Melbourne)

Furniture-maker Thomas Lentini established his own studio in 2017, specialising in designing and crafting bespoke pieces. While Lentini draws inspiration from architecture, nature and his materials, each of his unique creations is a direct and meaningful response to the intended space or end user.

TL61, designed in 2021 and produced in 2022–23, is developed from a piece originally commissioned by architecture and interior design firm Robson Rak for a private residence. The architect and client had already commissioned a bespoke stone dining table and asked Lentini to design a coffee table that used the remaining emerald quartzite. This new iteration uses Calacatta Viola Antica marble. Each coffee table leg is unique, using different thicknesses and radiuses of American white ash that are deliberately intersected into the stone tabletop. Unique cantilevers were chosen that highlight the soft radius applied to the timber’s edge profile, with a rich chocolate brown finish defining the textual contrast between two natural materials.

Lentini holds an Associate Degree of Furniture Design (2012) and a Diploma in Furniture Design and Technology (2011) from RMIT University. Since launching Studio Thomas Lentini in 2017, his clients have included Angle, CohenLeigh Architects, Double Monk Sydney, Homeroom Studio, Karen Abernethy Architects, Kennedy Nolan, Lovell Burton Architects, Modern Times, Nat Turnbull, Neil Hugh Office, Nicole Bell Design, Rob Kennon Architects, Robson Rak, Simone Haag, Therefore Studio and Travis Walton Architecture.
