1884

Monet visits the Italian Riviera alone to paint the lavish palm gardens of Bordighera. He describes the colours as "pure fairyland… one needs a palette of diamonds and jewels here because of the blues and pinks". His failure to return as promised prompts Alice to threaten to leave him.
