Durand-Ruel opens a gallery in New York. Sales through Durand-Ruel gain Monet earnings of 44,500 francs. Monet is now selling paintings through three dealers; Durand-Ruel, Georges Petit and Theo van Gogh. His financial success is secured. Monet declines to exhibit with fellow Impressionists at Durand-Ruel’s gallery.
