1889

In June, Monet and Rodin exhibit together in a highly successful two-artist show at Georges Petit’s gallery. Numerous works are borrowed from collectors. Included are 145 paintings by Monet and 36 sculptures by Rodin. Rodin’s work receives more press attention and Monet is not pleased. Monet suffers from lumbago in April and is bed-ridden. Despite a very rainy spring that limits Monet's work outdoors he continues to paint the surrounding fields of Giverny.
