1921

Monet's eyesight worsens. Cataracts cause darkened vision and the dominance of yellow, evident in this painting of the Path under the rose arches. Monet writes to Paul Helleu, "I have become an old man, so much for that. But my poor vision is going which causes me despair and makes me sad".
