1867

Camille Doncieux becomes pregnant. Highly anxious, Monet has episodes of partial blindness as her pregnancy advances and the couple are denied support by Monet’s family. His father advises him to abandon Camille. This forces Monet to return to Le Havre, leaving Camille in Paris under the care of friends. Camille is the model for all four women in this painting.
