Monet’s presence at Argenteuil over the next six years attracts Renoir, Sisley, Pissarro, Édouard Manet and Gustave Caillebotte. The river town becomes a hive of Impressionist activity. The Impressionist movement gains unity through the motif of Argenteuil, its towns, river banks and gardens, featured in their paintings.
