Triennial conversations | Future First Nations

Megan Cope, Angela Tiatia and Hannah Presley in conversation with Myles Russell-Cook

What is the role of First Nations Contemporary Art in navigating our global future? Championing the power, resilience and innovation of First Nations, guest speakers share their thoughts on the future impact of First Nations art, culture and design.

Beginning the conversation is an introductory video provocation by Triennial artist Natasha Matila-Smith. Matila-Smith is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa New Zealand. Her immersive, glowing video installation If I Die, Please Delete My SoundCloud uses online aesthetics and confessional text to explore loneliness in digital spaces.

This program was part of Triennial Conversations, which took place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 December to mark the opening of NGV Triennial 2020.
