Ground Level

Steve Carr introduces his spectacular large-scale six channel video projection at NGV International, presented as part of White Night Reimagined. The footage is captured from six drones flying through a fireworks display, chasing the action from different angles and altitudes, offering the viewer a unique vantage that explores the poetics of movement and perspective.

Speaker

Steve Carr is one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary artists, working across moving image, sculpture and photography. His practice is primarily concerned with constructing scenarios in which a given situation is complicated by questions of translation. His works often transform one material into another, drawing attention to our sense of time, our bodies and what we experience when phenomena undergo profound physical transmutations.
