EXHIBITION TIMES: 14–20 MAR, 11AM–6PM DAILY
Atmosphere: A Revival is a public sauna installation that seeks to promote the revival of bathing culture along the Yarra River. The installation is an urban and social regeneration project that draws upon historical contexts of saunas and communal bathing to activate under-utilised public space.

In a time of shrinking space and an ever-increasing population, Melbourne is faced with a need to find ways to maintain wellbeing for humans and their environment. A temporal installation sparks a conversation around the benefits of communal bathing in cities offering a means through which Birrarung can be better experienced and, in turn, improve the health and wellbeing of the city’s residents.

Please note: General admission to the sauna is between 11am-6pm. Access between these times is free of charge and does not require booking (Studio Rain ask for a gold coin donation to cover daily maintenance costs.) Space will be available according to demand, but if you wish to book out of hours private access for yourself or a larger group in the sauna, please use the booking link provided.

The installation will incorporate a designated private area for guests to change. There will also be an external bucket-bath system for rinsing off after the sauna.

Swimwear and towel are required to enter the sauna. Maximum capacity inside the sauna is 10 people at one time.

Swimming in the river is not a part of the installation and guests do so at their own accord.
