Join us for the launch of CoUNTess: Spoiling Illusions Since 2008, a new collaborative publication from writer, Melinda Rackham and Melbourne Now artist, Elvis Richardson.

Richardson’s blog CoUNTess: Women count in the art-world has published data and commentary on gender representation in Australian contemporary visual arts since 2008. In book form, CoUNTess examines in particular the gender inequity within the Australian visual arts sector, the history and impact of the CoUNTess data collection and analysis project, and the effects of navigating an asymmetrical art world on the lives of women artists, writers and academics.

The program will feature art theorist, Professor Jacqueline Millner in conversation with co-authors Rackham and Richardson, as well as the book’s two designers, Maria Smit and Elliott Bryce Foulkes.

The publication of CoUNTess was made possible through assistance from the Australia Council for the Arts, as well as Creative Victoria.
