Polish born, USA-based artist Agnieszka Pilat presents a new work that continues her examination of technology’s influence on contemporary society and considers questions around AI robots as species needing care.

Pilat is known for her series of heroic portraits of technology and for paintings co-created with a quadruped robot named Spot. For Triennial, expanding her creative fascination with robots and technology, Pilat takes a step back and passes her brushes on to her AI-enabled robot apprentices, who have been trained to paint and will be creating new works over the course of the exhibition.

Join NGV Senior Curator, Ewan McEoin to learn insights into how her work serves as a catalyst for discussions on artificial intelligence and poses the existential question of our co-existence with these new technologies.

Ewan McEoin is Senior Curator, Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture, at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).
