Let’s design the world we want – starting with sustainable housing. Join architect and founder of Architecture for Kids School, Louise O’Brien to consider the ways in which designers and architects can address environmental issues through sustainable design. Taking inspiration from the 2024 NGV Architecture Commission Home Truth by Breath Architects (currently on display until 20 Jul 2025) consider sustainable materials and design, and be guided by Louise to create a rapid three-dimensional model of a contemporary Australian home made from recycled materials.
Students will:
- Identify and discuss key sources of inspiration for architecture including the 2024 Architecture Commission Home Truth by Breath Architects.
- Employ critical thinking capabilities to consider a design brief and generate design concepts, considering sustainability.
- Develop and articulate design concepts through scaffolded activities including sketching and rapid model making.
