Step on board a catamaran to gain a new perspective of the city and the role this vital infrastructure plays in supporting Australia’s growing population and economy. Melbourne’s port is Australia’s premier container and general cargo port and a vital trade gateway for Victoria, Tasmania and parts of regional NSW and South Australia. Around 36% of Australia’s trade moves through Melbourne’s port – that’s over 3000 ships each year and 2.8 million containers. The tours feature a guided commentary from port staff and take-in Victoria Dock and Appleton Dock, the port’s more historic facilities, before visiting the container terminals at Swanson Dock. All tours are round-trips, leaving from Victoria Harbour in Docklands.
