How can we bring joy and fun into the places we inhabit? Join architect and founder of Architecture for Kids School Louise O’Brien to imagine, design and refine design concepts inspired by the vibrant colours, bold patterns and immersive spaces in Yayoi Kusama at the NGV.
Students will:
- Identify and discuss key ideas and features evident in the work of Yayoi Kusama.
- Develop and articulate design concepts through scaffolded drawing activities.
- Employ critical thinking capabilities to consider a design brief and generate design concepts inspired by the work of Yayoi Kusama.
Students participating in this program will need:
- Two sheets of plain drawing paper
- Colour pencils
- A pencil sharpener and eraser (optional)
About the architect
Louise O’Brien is a highly regarded and successful architect with more than twenty years’ experience in multiple sectors both locally and internationally. She is founder of Apsara Collective – a residential and building and interior architecture studio. O’Brien is passionate about design and the opportunities it provides to inspire and empower young people. She lectures at a tertiary level and runs the ‘Architecture for Kids’ school based in Sydney.
