Esteemed curator, art historian and founder of The Great Women Artists Instagram account and podcast, Katy Hessel is dedicated to championing women artists across history and the world.

Hessel has interviewed groundbreaking artists such as Tracey Emin CBE RA and Sheila Hicks as well as renowned writers including Deborah Levy and Ali Smith. In her book The Story of Art Without Men, Hessel interrogates who is included in the history of art – and notably, who has been left out.

At this exclusive Melbourne event presented by NGV as part of Melbourne Art Book Fair and The Wheeler Centre, Hessel is joined by NGV Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture, Simone LeAmon to discuss the extraordinary, but often overlooked careers of women artists from Australia and around the world.
