Making Sense is an exhibition presented by Making Space—an experimental graphic design collective that emerged from the 2018 show of the same name. Building upon the first exhibition, Making Sense hinges on series of critical, design-led inquiries into the value of the designer, precarity, privilege, industry accessibility, and shifting identities. These investigations culminate in a collection of artifacts, publications and tandem events that propose and facilitate alternative narratives, conditions and standards in graphic design and beyond. Making Sense is developed by Making Space’s current members: Rida Abbasi, Zenobia Ahmed, Dennis Grauel, Ryley Lawson, Hope Lumsden-Barry, Alex Margetic, Noor Sleiman, and Rachel Worcou.
