Visitors are invited to join Melbourne Now artist Sarah crowEST for a walk around the NGV Collection galleries, wearing one of the artist’s painted canvas, rectangular textiles.

Peregrination RE-UP draws together the artist, a group of people and material forms as co-producers through the actions of making, wearing and appearing. The canvas surface applications reference constructivist graphics that broadly reflect architectural elements of the building and bear marks of artistic labour, such as paint residue and printed fragments.

Peregrination RE-UP joins the human and the material across time and space to create a tangible, social situation (and spectacle) to walk and talk about the works. How does it feel to be encased in a stiff, canvas painting that becomes animated when strapped onto a live body?
