Members are invited to an exclusive preview of Pharaoh, the international blockbuster exhibition that celebrates three thousand years of ancient Egyptian art and culture, before it opens to the public.

Curated especially for the National Gallery of Victoria by the British Museum as part of the Victorian Government’s Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® series, the exhibition will unpack the phenomenon of the pharaoh through more than 500 objects, comprising seven thematic sections that explore the pharaoh’s roles and duties.

Through a carefully curated selection of exceptional pieces, including monumental sculpture, tomb and temple architecture, coffins and funerary objects, as well as a significant display of exquisite ancient Egyptian jewellery, Pharaoh will explore the realities, mythologies and iconographies of kingship in ancient Egypt.

Before seeing the exhibition, learn more about ancient Egypt and the lives of the pharaohs in an exclusive presentation just for Members and their guests. Learn more about the Members Talk: Curator’s Insights – Pharaoh
