After attending the Members Exhibition Introduction for Rembrandt: True to life, please join us for a preview of this major exhibition devoted to the seventeenth-century Dutch master before it opens to the public.
Rembrandt: True to life presents more than 100 etchings, alongside paintings and drawings from the NGV Collection and important loans from the Rijksmuseum, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, the Louvre Museum, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and the Teylers Museum in Haarlem. The works will be displayed in thematic groups of self-portraits and portraits, religious motifs, landscapes, nudes, and genre scenes, to give insight into the scope of Rembrandt’s oeuvre.
The exhibition also includes a recreation of Rembrandt’s Cabinet of curiosities. Filled with prints and drawings, as well as artefacts and rare natural objects from Europe and Asia, this collection was a status symbol and an important source of inspiration for the artist.
Before attending the preview, learn more at an exclusive introduction with NGV Curator Petra Kayser at 1.00pm. Separate ticket required for preview and talk. To purchase tickets for the talk, click here.
