NGV FRIDAY NIGHTS: PIERRE BONNARD
Warm up this winter at NGV Friday Nights with Melbourne’s favourite bands and DJs combined with the blockbuster Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition, Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Mahdavi.

NGV’s Ground Level is transformed with live music, pop-up bars and dining inspired by French artist Pierre Bonnard and award-winning Paris-based designer India Mahdavi. Explore Bonnard’s colourful artworks with after-hours exhibition access and enjoy live music all in one place.

PERFORMANCES
BUMPY
Great Hall
8–9pm

Adopting her childhood nickname — adorned due to a knack for bumping into all kinds of obstacles — Bumpy pulls from the strength found in tenderness, scars and all. The Noongar woman and Naarm artist’s stirring voice is transportive, arresting listeners with complex, intimate and multi-faceted truths of loss, joy and connection. Bumpy’s music is always honest, raw and purely captivating. Live, she brings all facets of herself to the stage: vulnerable and strong, melancholic and energetic, serious and silly, always entrancing.

PRIYA
Federation Court
6–8pm
9–10pm

Priya is a Naarm/Melbourne based DJ and producer playing at various party outfits around town. Listening to their production, Priya lays out some of the most subaquatic cuts for our listening pleasure, with many layers within.

DROP-BY DRAWING
EMMA CREASEY
Pierre Bonnard Exhibition Space
6–8pm

Emma Creasey, a visual artist based in Naarm, Melbourne, explores the multifaceted nature of the self through her work. With a focus on the human experience, her art presents a fluid and evocative depiction of existence, employing narratives and scenes as conduits for colours and textures. Emma’s work has been exhibited in group shows and artist residencies across Australia.

EXHIBITION
The blockbuster Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Mahdavi illuminates Melbourne this winter with a celebration of the artist’s colourful paintings in collaboration with award winning Paris-based designer India Mahdavi. Developed in partnership with Musée d’Orsay, Paris, the show features more than 100 works spanning the late nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. The works are presented within a contemporary design by India Mahdavi, who has been described as the ‘virtuoso of colour’ and ‘possessor of perfect chromatic pitch’.

DINING
Inspired by regional French flavours, the Yering Station Wine Bar in Great Hall and Pommery Champagne Bar in Gallery Kitchen will serve a menu to warm you up, including cheese boards, gruyere croquettes, cassoulet and sweet profiteroles.
