The 2025 NGV Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition French Impressionism explores the timelessness of one of the most renowned movements in art history. Step inside a 19th-century grand interior and experience over 100 works by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cassatt, Van Gogh, Manet and more.

LIVE MUSIC FROM MINDY MENG WANG 王萌 AND TIM SHIEL
Great Hall
7pm, 8pm & 9pm

Mindy Meng Wang 王萌 and Tim Shiel’s collaborative project draws upon archival recordings of Mindy’s guzheng and reworks these into new compositions. The result is a unique and wonderful dive into the spaces that exist somewhere on the fringes of electronica, pop, avant-garde experimentation and classical Chinese tradition.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

MELBOURNE WINTER MASTERPIECES® FRENCH IMPRESSIONISM FROM THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, BOSTON
French Impressionism is a major exhibition developed by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in partnership with the NGV. The exhibition charts the trajectory of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism in late 19th-century France, highlighting the renowned avant-garde artists at the centre of this period of radical experimentation.

Set within an immersive 19th-century interior, French Impressionism features over 100 paintings by Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Édouard Manet and Mary Cassatt surrounded by sumptuous wallpapers, drapery, ornate furnishings, and a magnificent Erard grand piano.
