PERFORMANCES
KUZICH
Great Hall
8–9pm
Kuzich was born in Noongar country. Spending years on the road as a drummer for acts like Sampa The Great and Joyce Wrice, he found his own voice composing a unique palette of tender, existential soul music. Kuzich will be performing compositions off his eagerly awaited debut album, a profoundly meditative sound that invites listeners to slow down and gently caress life’s paradoxical yearnings. Joined by his band, and quick wit, the NGV will be transformed into a sanctuary of here, and there.
BILLOS + KLOMP
Federation Court
6–8pm
9–10pm
Billos + Klomp comprises best friends [archenemies] and local dentists Bill Madytianos and James Barros-Murphy. Akin to film soundtracks their music curation attempts to complement theme and location. With no distinctive style or defined genre, they invite listeners to question how sound accompanies sight.
DROP-BY DRAWING
LIBBY HAINES
Pierre Bonnard Exhibition Space
6–8pm
Libby is an artist based in Naarm, whose work cherishes the joy of everyday life through colourful still-life paintings.
Graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2007; Libby pivoted and followed down a path of fashion, then jewellery design. Her love of painting was reignited throughout extended Covid lockdowns, becoming a form of escapism for the artist. Capturing the uncanny and unremarkable — a half-eaten meal, unmade bed, or a kitchen in motion—the results are paintings oozing playfulness and nostalgia.
Since returning to painting in 2020 Libby has exhibited in 5 group shows, several charity auctions, and 3 sold out solo shows; all while building a loyal following on Instagram where she releases two paintings a week.
EXHIBITION
The blockbuster Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Mahdavi illuminates Melbourne this winter with a celebration of the artist’s colourful paintings in collaboration with award winning Paris-based designer India Mahdavi. The works are presented within a contemporary design by India Mahdavi, who has been described as the ‘virtuoso of colour’ and ‘possessor of perfect chromatic pitch’.
