Ground Level

The Night of Ideas (La Nuit des Idées) is an opportunity for audiences and speakers to unite around a common theme and engage in thought provoking discussions.

Hosted by cultural institutions around the world every year, the Night of Ideas bridges countries and offers unique pathways for idea exploration. Expert speakers will enrapture audiences with topical discussions, offering an opportunity to get intimate with the ideas. Since its inception in 2016 by the Institut Français, the Night of Ideas has illuminated over 190 cities around the world.

The 2024 theme ‘Fault Lines’ aims to shake up our understanding of the current world. Explore themes like shifting genders and identities, our responsibility to our natural world, and how breakthroughs of science and technology threaten to change the world as we know it.

Enjoy late-night access to the ground level of NGV Triennial and be inspired and challenged with thought-provoking talks, conversations and performances.

Featuring an opening performance by Mo’Ju, and roving performances from the Australian Art Orchestra, the evening invites thought leaders, activists, musicians, authors, and world-leading experts to reflect on global issues alongside DJs, bars and late-night dining.

An initiative of the French Embassy in partnership with the NGV and the Institut Français.
