Past program

Join Melbourne Now artist-in-residence Rel Pham for an engaging talk that delves into his artistic practice which explores digital realities and the way the digital realm plays out in the physical world.

For Melbourne Now, Pham worked with the NGV to create TEMPLE – an installation exploring his ideas about computers and the links he has made with a set of ancient Taoist symbols and beliefs known as Bagua, which explain the core principles of reality.

Born in 1990, Pham is part of the last generation of people to experience the world without the internet, which is why his art is often based in time and the world of technology. Also inspired by times spent with his dad in Chinatown, playing video games, or days in nature, Pham’s work tells stories to express his unique experiences and ways of seeing the world.
