In many of his prints Rembrandt made changes to the copper plate to produce different ‘states’. These changes typically include the addition of details and textures that would accentuate particular elements, or change the mood by darkening the image.

NGV curator Petra Kayser leads a tour of Rembrandt: True to Life focusing on a selection of prints that exemplify the artist’s experimental technique.
