Presented by WRITING & CONCEPTS as part of Melbourne Art Book Fair

Darpa, founded in 2017, is a press without printing, publishing art, software, poetry, correspondence, documentation, and secrets. It’s committed to the formal recollection of ways that the Internet might have functioned otherwise. Rowan is the secretary of Darpa and will here reflect on its recent publications in the context of artists publishing as an aesthetic technology.

WRITING & CONCEPTS is a presentation and performance series exploring the insights that visual arts practitioners have into their own creative and cultural practices. Contributors include practitioners for whom the written form is their primary professional output and practitioners whose work manifests as exhibitions or events within the domain of contemporary art.

Speakers

Rowan McNaught is an artist and publisher in Melbourne; secretary of Darpa press; former co-founder of West Space Journal; co-manager of the artist-run record label BSR; PhD candidate at Victorian College of the Arts.

Entry to NGV is free with booked session times at NGV International.
