Spend the day learning about some of the world’s most influential designers of the twentieth century and the key movements that continue to shape and inform design today.
Study, analyse and interpret significant works in the NGV Collection, on display at NGV International, with NGV educators, alongside expert curators of decorative arts and design.
The course will introduce the social and cultural contexts that informed the development of key movements in the first half of the twentieth century, from Art Nouveau and Art Deco, to the Bauhaus school and its ongoing influence.
Moving into mid-century and beyond, participants will learn about leading designers from the 1950s to the 1980s, including Charles and Ray Eames, George Nakashima, Isamu Noguchi and Marc Newson.
This one-day intensive course unpacks the design innovations, social forces and cross-cultural connections that have shaped the way we live today, and influenced the furniture and objects we use in our daily lives.
Lunch will be provided via a voucher to be redeemed onsite at Gallery Kitchen or Tea Room.
