Take some time out with art! Ways of Looking teacher professional learning programs are offered each term. Engage in rich conversations about art with colleagues and discuss different strategies and approaches to use in the classroom to encourage diverse viewpoints and foster students’ observation, interpretation and responding skills.

In Term One, Ways of Looking will focus on activity-based engagement using the NGV Art Conversation Cards, a new resource designed to spark students’ imagination and help you lead lively discussions inspired by art. Discover how to use these cards to foster critical and creative thinking, and practice strategies for developing your own great art conversation starters for your students. Leave inspired and ready to transform your next gallery visit or classroom activity.

All materials are supplied, including a complimentary pack of the NGV Art Conversation Cards. This event also includes light refreshments. Please include any dietary requirements when booking.

Learning Outcomes

  • Participate in the analysis and interpretation of a range of artworks from the NGV Collection.
  • Investigate and apply strategies to help students articulate diverse viewpoints.
  • Develop discussion-based activities for increasing student engagement with art.
