Discover a talking budgerigar who loves to blow kisses, kick a ball and teach an important message about what it means to be an Aboriginal person in Australia.

Cassie Leatham is from the Taungurung people from the Kulin Nation. She is an artist, master weaver, traditional dancer, bushtukka woman and educator. Cassie creates beautiful woven objects made from native grasses and through her art she shares the culture and traditional ways of her ancestors.

Cassie has taught her pet budgie called Mr Beaky some words in the Taungurung language and he practices while perched on Cassie’s glasses!

In this drop-by, hands-on making workshop children learn some Taungurung words too and create a paper version of Mr Beaky to take home.
