Claude Monet’s Water lily pond

A garden pond features in many of Monet’s most famous works from his time living in Giverny. Inspired by Japanese art, Monet extended his garden at his home and installed a water lily pond complete with a bridge running across it. He spent the final years of his life – while suffering from deteriorating eyesight and lung cancer – on his largest project, a series of monumental panels of his pond, which he gifted to the people of France. This week, explore the way Monet captured impressions of his garden pond in The water lily pond, 1900, and reflect on your own experiences and memories of gardens.
