Join Patricia Piccinini, Enterprise Professor in Art VCA+MCM, University of Melbourne, for an exclusive presentation, drinks and canapés.

Piccinini will discuss her practice over the last 25 years and current projects, including her monumental exhibition currently on show in the Flinders Street Station Ballroom, A Miracle Constantly Repeated.

Working on the border of art and science, Piccinini is a contemporary artist who is interested in what it means to be alive in the present day. She creates a world somewhere between the one we know and the one that is almost upon us. Piccinini focuses on the emotional lives of the new creatures that might emerge, along with our relationships with them and with nature. Her world is one of questions rather than answers: instead of telling the viewer what to think, she asks them how they feel when confronted by these possibilities.

As one of Australia’s pre-eminent artists, Piccinini regularly exhibits at home and abroad. In 2003 she represented Australia at the Venice Biennale with We Are Family and in 2013 created The Skywhale for the Centenary of Canberra.

This is an NGVWA fundraising event. All proceeds support art acquisition at the NGV.
