NGV Teens: Tromarama
What is hyperreality?

For NGV Triennial, artist collective Tromarama have created a mural-sized LED curtain using a computer program commonly used in video game platforms. In this online interactive program, teens can investigate the relationship between the virtual and physical world with Tromarama before engaging in an activity inspired by their artwork.

Tromarama is an Indonesian artist collective founded by Febie Babyrose, Herbert Hans and Ruddy Hatumena. Engaging with the notion of hyperreality in the digital age, the artists explore the interrelationship between the virtual and the physical world. The collective often combine video, installations, computer programming and public participation depicting the influence of digital media on society’s perception towards its surroundings.

This program for people aged 13 to 18 years was originally presented on Sat 9 Jan, as part of the NGV Teens: What Is series during NGV Kids Summer Festival 2021.
