Exhibition tickets are timed for entry every 15 minutes. Once you have entered the exhibition you are able to stay for as long as you wish, or until the Gallery closes at 5pm.
Once you enter the exhibition, you won’t be able to come and go unless you need a bathroom or a break for disability or health reasons. If you do need to leave and come back in, you can exit through the exhibition entrance and let the security team member know that you will be coming back in.
Children of all ages are warmly welcomed in the Yayoi Kusama exhibition.

The exhibition is open between 10am and 5pm daily from 15 December 2024 to 21 April 2025.
The event series NGV Friday Nights offers evening access to the Yayoi Kusama exhibition and dining, bars and DJ performances each Friday of the exhibition period.You will need an NGV Friday Nights ticket to attend these events.
If you have a Companion Card, you can receive a concession-priced ticket to Yayoi Kusama for yourself and a complimentary ticket for your companion. Complimentary tickets for companions can be collected at the Gallery at the ticketing desk; please use the priority line.
Carer Card-holders are entitled to concession-priced tickets.
The entrance to NGV International is on street level and has an automatic door.
The Yayoi Kusama exhibition and all public areas in the NGV, including the Gallery Kitchen cafe, Garden Restaurant and NGV design store, are wheelchair accessible.
One of the immersive rooms, The Spirits of the Pumpkins Descended into the Heavens, requires visitors to step onto a step to see inside a mirrored cube. An iPad is available to show the inside of the cube for those who are unable to view inside. The exhibition is all on one level, on the ground floor.

A Changing Places bathroom is located nearby at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, approximately 300 metres from NGV International.
Accredited assistance dogs are welcome at the NGV.
Please ensure your assistance dog is wearing their jacket while at the Gallery.
Access aids including self-regulation fidget devices, magnifying sheets and earplugs are available for free hire from the information desk. We recommend booking prior to your visit, by calling 8620 2222 or making a booking online.
Kusama for Kids is a free exhibition and booking is not required.
This is an interactive space and you are welcome to touch. As you enter, a staff member will give you a sheet of colourful dot stickers. You will enter an apartment with everyday furniture and personal items.
At the beginning of the exhibition period, the room including furniture was all white. As time passes, the room is gradually covered by colourful stickers placed by visitors.
The space is wheelchair accessible and seating is available.
Digital screens display instructions on entry and exit. Background music is playing.
The exhibition features painting, sculpture, collage, fashion, video and installation including immersive rooms.
Please note that the exhibition includes references to suicide, mental illness and sexual themes.
The exhibition presents a series of immersive rooms which use mirrors, patterns and lighting effects. These spaces may be disorientating and difficult to navigate.

Gallery spaces are air-conditioned and are between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.
The sensory map on page 11 shows the locations of audiovisual content, sensory elements and seating, and can help you prepare for your visit.
Relaxed sessions at NGV welcome visitors who would benefit from a quieter Gallery experience with fewer people and reduced sensory stimuli. This may include people with autism, disability, dementia, mental health or chronic illness conditions. All ages are welcome.
A tour in Auslan will be presented by a Deaf artist during the NGV Friday Nights series. Booking is required.
Auslan interpretation of other events is available upon request. Please email your request to programs@ngv.vic.gov.au, allowing a minimum of one week’s notice.
A tour featuring audio description of exhibition highlights will be presented during a Relaxed Session. Booking is required.
