Penny Byrne

Born 1965, Mildura, Victoria; lives and works in Melbourne. Penny Byrne completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Ceramics) at RMIT University and a Graduate Diploma (Ceramics and Glass Conservation and Restoration) at West Dean College, United Kingdom. Her recent solo exhibitions include Plausible Deniability, Sullivan+Strumpf Fine Art, Sydney, 2011; Political Porcelain, Museum of Australian Democracy, Canberra, 2011–12; Penny Byrne: Commentariat, a Deakin University touring show, 2011–12; and Life is a Riot, Albury Library Museum, 2012. Recent group exhibitions include Haunts and Follies, Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts, Melbourne, 2012; Made to Last, a NETS touring exhibition, 2012–13; and Diorama, Wollongong City Gallery, 2013. In 2010, Byrne featured as the subject of a documentary for ABC TV’s Artscape.
