Penny Byrne often recontextualises mass-produced porcelain figurines to satirical effect. iProtest may look cute but closer inspection reveals that each figure is marked with details relating to recent and current conflicts and protests across the globe. Here, faces are painted with national flags, bodies are bloodied by acts of violence, and the cutest figures are actually riot police, wielding guns and dressed as clowns.
