Maree Clarke

Born 1961, Swan Hill, Victoria; lives and works in Melbourne. Maree Clarke is connected to the traditional lands of the Mutti Mutti, Wamba Wamba, Yorta Yorta and Boonwurrung peoples. She is a highly respected multidisciplinary artist and curator committed to the reclamation of Victorian Indigenous art and customary material culture. In 1996 she initiated and co-curated the We Iri We Homeborn Aboriginal and Torres State Islander Arts Festival across multiple Melbourne venues. In 2011 her solo exhibition Ritual and Ceremony was held at Bunjilaka, Melbourne Museum and her work was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art, New York.
