Emile Zile

Born 1979, Melbourne, Victoria; lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Emile Zile completed a Bachelor of Media Arts at RMIT University, Melbourne, in 2004, and a Master of Fine Art at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam, in 2009. He is currently a studio resident at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam. Zile has held exhibitions, screenings and performances throughout Australia and Europe. Recent solo projects include DVD Burner, Netherlands Institute for Media Art, Amsterdam, 2012; Subtitle Kino, Fargfabriken, Stockholm, 2012; and Manual Tracking Control, Footscray Community Arts Centre, Melbourne, 2012. Selected group exhibitions include The Leisure Class, Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, 2008; Rietveld/1 mins, Arsenale, 53rd Venice Biennale, 2009; and Three Artists Walk into a Bar, De Appel, Amsterdam, 2012.
