Born 1939, Riga, Latvia; arrived in Australia 1950; lives and works in Melbourne. Jan Senbergs has exhibited regularly in both commercial and public galleries since the 1960s. Most recently he has held solo exhibitions at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, 2008; Deakin University Art Gallery, Melbourne, 2011; and the Australian Print Workshop, Melbourne, 2012. Senbergs also exhibits regularly with Niagara Galleries, Melbourne. From 1989 to 1990 Senbergs was Visiting Professor, Chair of Australian Studies, at Harvard University, Boston, United States. Voyage and Landfall: The Art of Jan Senbergs by Patrick McCaughey was published in 2006.
