Born 1959, Port Macquarie, New South Wales; lives and works in Melbourne. Louise Forthun completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) at RMIT University in 1982, a Postgraduate Diploma (Painting) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1987 and a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University in 2000. Since her first solo exhibition in 1985 she has exhibited widely throughout Australia. Recent solo exhibitions include Into the Light, Blockprojects, Melbourne, 2011, and Local Colour, Boutwell Draper Gallery, Sydney, 2012. Group exhibitions include The Shilo Project, Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, 2009; The Futile City, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne, 2011; and The Enchanted Dome, State Library of Victoria, Melbourne, 2012.
