Stieg Persson

Born 1959, Melbourne, Victoria; lives and works in Melbourne. Stieg Persson has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally since the mid 1980s. His art was included in Perspecta, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, in 1985 and 1987. Recent group exhibitions include Drawing Out, Global Centre for Drawing, University of the Arts, London, 2012; Theatre of the World, Museum of Old and New Art, Hobart, 2012, and La Maison Rouge, Paris, 2013; and Mix Tape 1980s: Appropriation, Subculture, Critical Style, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, 2013. His solo exhibitions include Crypsis, Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne, 2010, and Backmasking: The Art of Stieg Persson, Glen Eira City Gallery, Melbourne, 2001, and Bendigo Art Gallery, Wangaratta Exhibitions Gallery and Hamilton Art Gallery, 2002. He won the inaugural Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize, Bendigo Art Gallery, in 2003.
