Founded in 2002 as a conceptual fashion design practice, MaterialByProduct has been run solely by Susan Dimasi since 2011. For
Melbourne Now, Dimasi is creating a working studio on Level 3 of NGV International in order to reflect on the processes of production and reproduction in fashion. Drawing on the decorative language of eighteenth-century brocaded silk fragments in the NGV collection, Susan will explore historical and contemporary modes of making from the artisanal right through to the digital.
