In Melbourne Now Jess Johnson presents ten new drawings –which depict an imagined future civilization – and stepped podium, within an immersive wall painting and floor treatment. Johnson draws on diverse sources – such as science fiction, cosmology, comic books, illuminated manuscripts and folk art traditions – to create her densely patterned images, which present fantastic new worlds, full of her own idiosyncratic iconography.
