Seurat shared his ideas with other artists. Camille Pissarro was one of the first artists to try this new way of painting and this picture was shown alongside Seurat’s paintings at the last Impressionist exhibition.

Lots of Impressionist painters did not like this new style and would not allow their paintings to be shown in the same exhibition.
