Robert Owen

Born 1937, Sydney, New South Wales; lives and works in Melbourne. Robert Owen studied sculpture at the National Art School, Sydney, and graduated in 1962. He is known for his work across art, installation, education and urban design, and was the subject of survey exhibitions at Monash University Museum of Art in 1999 and the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2004. Owen represented Australia at the 38th Venice Biennale in 1978, and received a Lifetime Service to the Visual Arts Award from the Australia Council in 2002. Other recent exhibitions include Fallen Light, ARC ONE Gallery, Melbourne, 2012; Photographic Abstractions, Monash Gallery of Art, Melbourne, 2012; and The New MCA Unveiled, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, 2012.
