Drawing Now features drawings by more than forty Melbourne-based artists in an exhibition curated by artist John Nixon, based on his personal and professional networks. Nixon has deliberately not invited artists whose primary practice is drawing, hoping instead to enable audiences a rare glimpse at drawings developed as part of artists’ studio practices but not usually included in their exhibitions. Nixon has arranged the drawings alphabetically – rather than thematically – in order to emphasise the diversity of approaches possible to drawing and to encourage the audience to make their own links.
